Heroes who rise to the challenge of the times

Wei Dongjin, an alumnus, founded Shenzhen Baishida Excellent Technology Co., Ltd. in 2005. The company is involved in the fields of new materials, gas station oil tank lining renovation, and oilfield investment and development.

At first, Baishida Co., Ltd. mainly engaged in agency functions, acting as an agent for Berkshire Hathaway, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Warren Buffett in the United States, and also acted as an agent for the largest lubricant company in the United States, responsible for sales in the China region.

Although the path of agency is easy to take, it is not a long-term solution for the development of enterprises. At that time, in addition to serving as a long-term agent for various types of flexible oil tanks, oil and water pipelines, and other military materials, Baishida also participated in the development of multiple related materials. Unintentionally inserting willows into shade, the experience in material research and development has opened the door for the transformation of Baishida's enterprise.

Alumni Wei Dongjin, who has been working in the oil and materials industry for many years, is well aware that global oil transportation generates a large amount of oil and gas consumption, and oil transportation issues have always been a global problem. The astonishing consumption data shocked the Wei Dongjin team and provided them with direction and ideas. With years of experience in agency and research and development in the materials industry, Wei Dongjin and his team have discovered that some improved products have ultra-high performance, such as blocking oil and gas evaporation, permanent electrostatic conductivity, and oil resistance.

Baishida immediately invested funds and talents in the research and development of oil loss technology. After years of testing by national departments, Baishida's research and development technology and products can almost achieve zero volatilization. This breakthrough has received strong support from national departments and has been listed as a national level support project by PetroChina, receiving one million yuan in research and development funds. As a result, Baishida has the opportunity to become the first domestic standard setter for oil tank lining in gas stations.

At the beginning of its listing, Wei Dongjin alumni put aside their bold words and stated that Baishida Technology will use the platform of the New Third Board to commercialize and scale the oil-free gas volatilization technology and non excavation double-layer tank transformation technology, creating greater welfare for the environmental protection cause of society, the sustainable development of national energy, and even the shared home of the world. Wei Dongjin alumni also actively practice this goal.

Continuously transforming and exploring various industries, alumni Wei Dongjin led Baishida to enter the petroleum industry for the first time. During the lowest international oil price period in 2016, the Canadian team of Wei Dongjin alumni acquired 16 oil fields in Canada at a historic low cost, covering an area of 3.2 square kilometers, and extracted high-yield and high-quality crude oil in 2018.

After 15 years of establishment, Baishida has transformed from an agent to a patent research and development technology innovation enterprise, and then to an industry rule maker. Alumni Wei Dongjin leads Baishida to practice the mission of "Made in China". As one of the top 100 entrepreneurs in China's new materials industry, the entrepreneurial story of alumni Wei Dongjin also witnesses the arduous and touching journey of China's new materials industry from scratch to catching up with the world's advanced level.

In addition, Wei Dongjin alumni also jointly invested in Yiwen Medical with Shenzhen Lingshi Cultural Industry Group Co., Ltd. to create the children's mask "Bai Le Tong". As a company with a strong sense of responsibility and mission, we have actively participated in the fight against the epidemic and supported the country's efforts to combat it, providing assistance to returning students.

The road of endless learning and continuous breakthroughs

In terms of career, alumni of Wei Dongjin continuously lead the company to break through and achieve one achievement after another, while also pursuing personal improvement in their studies. Wei Dongjin, an alumnus, has studied at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Economics and Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business. In 2016, he pursued the EMBA (Chinese) program at City University of Hong Kong and served as the honorary chairman of the second session of the City University of Hong Kong EMBA (Chinese) Alumni Association.

The study experience of EMBA (Chinese) at City University of Hong Kong not only gave alumni Wei Dongjin a deeper understanding of corporate management, but also made him fortunate to have met many good teachers and friends. Business executives from different industries across the country regained their student status, and the combination of passion and interaction in the classroom and practice confirmed the theory. The inclusive and youthful teaching atmosphere of Hong Kong University, the international perspective of Hong Kong, the teaching philosophy that combines theory and practice, and the high-intensity centralized teaching have all been praised by alumni Wei Dongjin.

During the two years of study, in addition to regular courses, visiting universities at Cambridge and Yale greatly broadened the horizons of Wei Dongjin alumni. Looking at the world, broadening the scope, and truly aligning with internationalization, the course learning has laid a solid foundation for Wei Dongjin's enterprise internationalization path.

Alumni Wei Dongjin actively participates in alumni activities and joined the City University of Hong Kong EMBA (Chinese) Alumni Association as honorary chairman after graduation, hoping to help more alumni connect with resources and help each other grow on the alumni association platform. As a diligent practitioner of alumni activities in the South China region, Wei Dongjin alumni has undertaken alumni enterprise visits, and many alumni have gathered at Baishida Group to explore Baishida's path to success.

Alumni of Wei Dongjin stated that the EMBA (Chinese) Alumni Association is a highly efficient platform for resource complementarity and exchange. Alumni entrepreneurs from different industries come here to learn, grow together, exchange and cooperate, and maximize resource integration. When it comes to the leadership team of the alumni association, alumni Wei Dongjin feels very impressed. The enthusiasm to contribute to this platform with numerous energetic and motivated alumni members is touching. Many alumni have very busy schedules, shuttling back and forth between various cities, but none of them were absent from the first meeting of the second alumni presidium, sincerely proposing construction ideas and contributing to the further development of the alumni association. He himself is no exception, actively contributing to the alumni association through practical actions and generously sponsoring its activities.
